The main function of the insulating sleeve is to prevent current leakage and improve the safety of the equipment. This kind of casing is usually a layer of insulating material wrapped around the outer layer of wires or cables to prevent direct contact between the wires and the external environment and prevent safety issues such as short circuits and leakage of wires.

The selection of insulating sleeves usually depends on the specific use environment and requirements. Common insulation casing materials include polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane (PU), polychlorinated polychlorobutane (CPVC), fluoroplastic (PTFE), silicone rubber (Silicone), etc. These materials have different properties, such as wear resistance, high temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, etc., and can meet the needs of various environments.

This article will introduce the different materials used in insulating sleeves and what their characteristics are.

1.Polyvinyl chloride (PVC):

PVC is a common insulation casing material with good electrical insulation properties and economy. It is suitable for general domestic, commercial and light industrial use. PVC insulating casing has properties such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and waterproofing, but its heat resistance is relatively poor in high temperature environments.

2. Polyurethane (PU):

PU insulating sleeve has good softness and wear resistance, as well as high cold resistance. This makes it excellent in cold environments or situations that require bending or twisting. However, compared to other materials, the price of PU is relatively high.

3. Polychlorinated polychlorobutane (CPVC):

CPVC insulation casing is improved on the basis of PVC and has higher heat resistance. It is suitable for some occasions that need to withstand high temperature environments, such as industrial equipment and high temperature electrical systems.

4. Fluorine plastic (PTFE):

PTFE is a material with excellent high temperature resistance, able to maintain stability in extreme temperatures. PTFE insulating sleeves are often used in high-temperature electrical equipment and special industrial environments and have excellent chemical corrosion resistance.

5. Silicone:

Silicone rubber insulating sleeve has excellent high temperature resistance and weather resistance, as well as good flexibility. This makes silicone rubber insulating sleeves often used in stoves, lighting equipment and other occasions that need to withstand high temperatures and scorching heat.

6. Polyimide (PI):

Polyimide is a high-performance engineering plastic with extremely high temperature resistance and chemical stability. It is often used in fields with extremely high requirements on electrical equipment, such as aerospace and medical equipment.

When you choose an insulating sleeve material, you need to make an appropriate choice based on the specific application environment, operating temperature, and electrical performance requirements. Because different materials have different performances in various aspects, comprehensive considerations should be made based on specific needs in actual applications, so that the insulating sleeve you choose is the most appropriate.
